GUSTS OF NE WINDS 35-60, IN THE VELEBIT CHANNEL UP TO 75 KNOTS, EASING GRADUALLY TOWARD THE END OF THE DAY. SEA LOCALLY STILL UP TO 5 IN THE FIRST PART OF THE DAY. A RISK OF LIGHT ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS IN THE SOUTH ADRIATIC.
Synopsis
The ridge of high pressure has intensified briefly over the Adriatic, while the low over the Ionian Sea is slowly shifting further southeastwards and a new trough with frontal disturbance is expected to approach from the northwest.
Weather forecast for the Adriatic for the first 12 hours
NE winds 18-28, in places up to 32, and in the Velebit Channel up to 38 knots, easing toward the end of the day and turning toward the open sea to NW. Sea 3-4, locally toward the open still up to 5 in the first part of the day. Visibility 10-20 km. Mostly clear, but in the South Adriatic still variably cloudy with a risk of scattered rain or isolated rain showers with thunder mainly in the extreme south.
Weather forecast for the next 12 hours
Moderate, in places up to strong NE, and toward the open sea NW winds, easing gradually during the night to light to moderate. Sea calming to smooth and slight. Mostly clear, only in the South Adriatic still variably cloudy, but gradual cloud increase is expected in the second part of the night.
