LOCAL GUSTS OF NE WINDS 35-40 KNOTS EXPECTED IN THE VELEBIT CHANNEL DURING THE NIGHT AND TOMORROW MORNING AND IN THE EXTREME SOUTH OF THE ADRIATIC TOMORROW TOWARD MIDDAY. A CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS, PARTICULARLY IN THE SOUTHERN PART OF THE ADRIATIC.
Synopsis
The trough with frontal disturbance is shifting across the Adriatic southeastwards, while the low over the Ionian Sea will be filling up gradually and the ridge of high pressure will intensify from the west.
Weather forecast for the Adriatic for the first 12 hours
SE winds 10-20, easing firstly in the North Adriatic, in the evening in the greater part of the Central, and turning to NE and NW 4-14, strengthening briefly in places up to 18, in the Velebit Channel up to 22 knots. Sea 2-3, in the open of the South Adriatic 3-4. Visibility 10-20 km. Variably cloudy with scattered rain and with a risk of isolated rain showers with thunder, particularly in the southern part. Gradual clearing is expected in the evening, firstly in the northern part of the Adriatic.
Weather forecast for the next 12 hours
Light to moderate NE and NW, in places briefly up to fresh, and NE winds in the Velebit Channel up to strong, toward midday briefly in the extreme south of the Adriatic as well. Sea smooth or slight, in the open of the South Adriatic up to moderate. Further clearing is expected, most lately in the South Adriatic, where rain or isolated rain showers with thunder are still possible in the morning.
