LOCAL GUSTS OF NE WINDS 35-55, IN THE VELEBIT CHANNEL UP TO 65, AND IN THE OPEN OF THE CENTRAL AND SOUTH ADRIATIC OF N and NW 35-50 KNOTS. SOUTH OF ISTRIA, FROM THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT IN THE OPEN OF THE CENTRAL AND SOUTH ADRIATIC AS WELL, SEA POSSIBLY 4-5.

SYNOPSIS

The shallow low centred south of Sicily is deepening and shifting southeastwards, while a ridge of high pressure is extending toward the Adriatic from the north.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE ADRIATIC FOR THE FIRST 12 HOURS

NE, toward the open of the Central and South Adriatic N and NW winds, 12-24, in places up to 28, and in the Velebit Channel up to 34 knots, easing a little during the day and strengthening again during the night. Sea 3-4, south of Istria possibly 4-5, west and north of Istria through the day mainly 2-3. Visibility 15-25 km. In the North Adriatic mostly clear, elsewhere gradual clearing is expected, firstly along the coast of the Central, till the end of the day of the rest of the Adriatic.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE NEXT 12 HOURS

Mostly clear. Moderate to strong, in places up to near gale force, in the Velebit Channel up to gale force NE, in the open of the Central and South Adriatic N and NW winds. Sea slight and moderate, south of Istria, from the middle of the night in the open of the Central and South Adriatic as well, possibly up to rough.
