LOCAL GUSTS OF NE and N WINDS 35-55 KNOTS, EASING IN THE NORTH ADRIATIC TOWARD MIDDAY, IN THE CENTRAL IN THE AFTERNOON, AND IN THE SOUTH ADRIATIC IN THE EVENING. SEA IN THE OPEN OF THE SOUTH ADRIATIC UP TO 5. IN THE SOUTH OF THE ADRIATIC STILL LIGHT ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS AT FIRST.

SYNOPSIS

The ridge of high pressure is intensifying over the Adriatic from the northwest, while the low is shifting from the Ionian Sea eastwards.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE ADRIATIC FOR THE FIRST 12 HOURS

NE and N winds 12-24, in places up to 28 knots. Wind will ease in the North Adriatic toward midday, in the Central in the afternoon, and turning in the northern part of the Adriatic in the evening to SW 4-14 knots. Sea 2-3, toward the open 3-4, in the South Adriatic possibly 4-5, mainly in the extreme south, and calming along the coast of the North Adriatic from midday to 1-2. Visibility 10-20 km. Mostly clear, but in the South Adriatic at first still variably cloudy with a little rain or isolated rain showers and thunder.

In the North Adriatic light to moderate SW winds. In the Central Adriatic moderate, in the South up to strong N and NE winds, easing gradually and turning around the middle of the night to light to moderate W and NW. Sea smooth or slight, in the South Adriatic today slight and moderate, in the extreme south possibly up to rough. Mostly clear.
