SYNOPSIS

The ridge of high pressure is extending over the Adriatic from the northwest, while the low over the Ionian Sea is gradually shifting eastwards.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE ADRIATIC FOR THE FIRST 12 HOURS

NE and N winds 18-32, in places up to 40 knots. Sea 3-4, locally up to 5, in the open of the Central and South Adriatic possibly up to 6. Visibility 20 km. Along the coast partly clear, in the Velebit Channel a risk of wind drifted snow, mainly late in the day. Toward the open sea more clouds and a little rain or isolated rain showers with thunder, from the middle of the day with a risk of sleet or a little snow. Significantly colder.

Strong and gale force NE and N winds, west and north of Istria easing gradually to moderate to strong. Sea mainly moderate, locally up to rough, in the open of the Central and South Adriatic possibily up to very rough, west and north of Istria calming to slight.
