LOCAL GUSTS OF NE WINDS 35-45, IN THE VELEBIT CHANNEL UP TO 70 KNOTS. A RISK OF LIGHT ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS IN THE EXTREME SOUTH OF THE ADRIATIC.

SYNOPSIS

The ridge of high pressure is extending from the north toward the Adriatic, while a shallow filed of low pressure lies over the central Mediterranean.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE ADRIATIC FOR THE FIRST 12 HOURS

NE winds 14-24, in the Velebit Channel up to 38, easing during the day and turning in the open of the Central Adriatic in the afternoon to NW winds 8-16 knots. Sea 2-3, in the open and in the Velebit Channel 3-4. Visibility above 20 km. Mostly clear with some variable cloudiness in the wider area of Rijeka, in the afternoon in the South and in a part of the Central Adriatic. Air temperatures a little lower.

Mostly clear. In the South and in a part of the Central Adriatic variably cloudy with a risk of scattered rain or isolated rain showers with thunder. Moderate to strong, in the Velebit Channel up to near gale force NE, toward the open of the Central and South Adriatic up to moderate NW winds. Sea smooth or slight, in the North and in the open of the South Adriatic up to moderate.
