SYNOPSIS

The ridge of high pressure is extending over the Adriatic from the northwest, while a shallow field of low pressure lies over the Tyrrhenian and Ionian Sea.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE ADRIATIC FOR THE FIRST 12 HOURS

NE, in the open of the South and of a part of the Central Adriatic, SE and E winds 12-24, in places up to 28, and in the Velebit Channel up to 38 knots. Sea 3-4, in the open of the North Adriatic and in the Velebit Channel 4-5. Visibility 10-20 km. Variably cloudy with a risk of a little rain or isolated rain showers and thunder, mainly in the open sea.

Strong and near gale force, in the Velebit Channel up to gale force NE, and in the open of the South and of a part of the Central Adriatic at first still strong and near gale force SE and E winds. Sea slight and moderate, in the North Adriatic possibly up to rough. In places variably cloudy with a risk of a little rain and, mainly in the open of the South Adriatic, of isolated rain showers and thunder.
