LOCAL GUSTS OF NE WINDS 35-45, IN THE VELEBIT CHANNEL DURING THE FORENOON STILL UP TO 60 KNOTS. IN THE OPEN SEA OF THE SOUTH ADRIATIC AND IN THE EXTREME SOUTH STILL A RISK OF ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS.

SYNOPSIS

The ridge of high pressure is intensifying toward the Adriatic, while a trough lies over the central and southern Mediterranean.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE ADRIATIC FOR THE FIRST 12 HOURS

NE winds 10-20, in places up to 24, in the Velebit Channel up to 32, easing around midday and turning in places to NW winds 6-16 knots. Sea 2-3, in the open and in the Velebit Channel 3-4. Visibility above 20 km. Mostly clear. In the South Adriatic variably cloudy, in the open sea and in the extreme south scattered rain and a risk of isolated rain showers with thunder.

Moderate to fresh, in places of the South Adriatic and in the Velebit Channel up to strong NE, and in the open sea of the South Adriatic E winds as well. Sea smooth or slight, locally in the open up to moderate. Mostly clear, but in the South Adriatic variably cloudy, in the open sea and in the extreme south with rain or isoated rain showers with thunder.
