IN THE NORTH AND CENTRAL, DURING THE NIGHT IN THE SOUTH ADRIATIC AS WELL, LOCAL GUSTS OF NE WINDS 35-45, IN THE VELEBIT CHANNEL UP TO 60 KNOTS. LIGHT ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS STILL POSSIBLE TODAY, PARTICULARLY ALONG THE COAST.

SYNOPSIS

The ridge of high pressure is gradually intensifying over the Adriatic from the north, while some moist and unstable air is still circulating in high levels.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE ADRIATIC FOR THE FIRST 12 HOURS

In the greater part of the Adriatic NE winds 12-24, in the Velebit Channel up to 32, spreading in the evening to the southern part of the Adriatic, where NW winds 4-14 knots will blow most of the day. Sea 2-3, in the open and in the Velebit Channel 3-4. Visibility mainly above 20, only in the South Adriatic still reduced in places to around 4 km due to mist. Variably cloudy with a little rain in places and still with a risk of isolated rain showers with thunder. Clearing is expected in the afternoon, firstly in the North Adriatic. No significant change in air temperatures.

Moderate to strong, in the Velebit Channel up to near gale force NE winds. Sea calm or smooth, in the open and in the Velebit Channel up to moderate. Gradual clearing in the Central and South Adriatic as well.
