GUSTS OF NE WINDS 35-65, IN THE VELEBIT CHANNEL UP TO 80 KNOTS. IN THE SOUTH ADRIATIC LATE IN THE DAY GUSTS OF SE and SW WINDS 35-50 KNOTS. SEA LOCALLY UP TO 5. ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS, MAINLY IN THE SOUTH AND IN A PART OF THE CENTRAL ADRIATIC.

SYNOPSIS

The ridge of high pressure is extending over the Adriatic. The low over the Ionian Sea is expected to deepen and to shift toward the Adriatic.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE ADRIATIC FOR THE FIRST 12 HOURS

NE winds 18-36, in the Velebit Channel up to 42 knots. Sea 4-5. Visibility 10-20 km. In the North Adriatic mostly clear, in the South mainly cloudy with scattered rain, isolated rain showers and thunder, along the coast with a risk of snow. In the Central Adriatic variably cloudy with rain, showers and thunder, along the coast with snow, spreading from the southern part to the rest of the region from midday.

In the North Adriatic mostly clear. In the South and Central Adriatic scattered rain, isolated rain showers and thunder, in places along the coast with a risk of snow, mainly in the northern part. Strong and gale force NE, in the South Adriatic moderate to near gale force SE and E, in the open sea SW winds. Winds will ease a little tomorrow. Sea moderate and rough.
