LOCAL GUSTS OF SE, THEN OF NW, AND IN THE VELEBIT CHANNEL OF NE WINDS, 35-45 KNOTS. SEA LOCALLY IN THE OPEN DURING THE NIGHT UP TO 5. ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS. IN THE NORTH ADRIATIC AT FIRST VISIBILITY POSSIBLY LESS THAN 1 KM DUE TO FOG.

SYNOPSIS

A trough with frontal system is approaching the Adriatic from the west and it will be shifting eastwards, while a ridge of high pressure will intensify from the north tomorrow.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE ADRIATIC FOR THE FIRST 12 HOURS

SE winds strengthening to 15-30, turning during the night to NW 15-30, in places along the coast to NE winds 5-15, in the Velebit Channel up to 25 knots. Sea 2-3, increasing to 3-4, in the open during the night possibly up to 5. Visibility 10-20, but in the North Adriatic at first possibly less than 1 km due to fog. Cloud increase, bringing rain, isolated rain showers and thunder.

Mainly cloudy with rain, isolated rain showers and thunder. End of precipitation and partial clearing in the North Adriatic during the night and in the South Adriatic around midday. Moderate to near gale force NW winds easing to light to moderate, in the open of the South and Central Adriatic to fresh. In places along the coast light to moderate, in the Velebit Channel up to strong NE winds, easing to light, in the Velebit Channel to fresh. Sea slight and moderate, in the open sea possibly up to rough, calming to smooth and slight, in the open of the South and Central Adriatic to moderate.
