IN THE NORTH ADRIATIC LOCAL GUSTS OF NE WINDS 35-45 KNOTS. SOUTH OF ISTRIA THIS MORNING LOCAL GUSTS OF SE and E WINDS, EXPECTED TO STRENGTHEN TO 35-40, IN THE AFTERNOON UP TO 45 KNOTS. SEA POSSIBLY UP TO 5 IN THE SECOND PART OF THE DAY AND A RISK OF LIGHT ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS.

SYNOPSIS

A ridge of high pressure over the Adriatic is weakening, while a trough is rapidly approaching from the west.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE ADRIATIC FOR THE FIRST 12 HOURS

SE and E winds strengthening to 12-24, in places around midday 28, in the evening up to 32, and in the North Adriatic still NE and E winds 10-20, in the Velebit Channel up to 24, turning south of Istria, toward the open sea, in the morning to SE and E and strengthening to 12-24 knots. Visibility 10-20 km. Sea increasing to 3-4, in the afternoon to 4-5. Overcast with rain and snow in places.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE NEXT 12 HOURS

Strong and near gale force SE, in the extreme north and in the Velebit Channel moderate to strong NE and E, turning in the North and Central Adriatic around the middle of the night, firstly in the open sea, to moderate to strong NW winds. Sea moderate, toward the open up to rough. Overcast with rain and snow in places, and with a risk of isolated rain showers with thunder.
