IN THE VELEBIT CHANNEL LOCAL GUSTS OF NE WINDS 35-50 KNOTS. IN THE OPEN SEA, MORE TO THE SOUTH OF ISTRIA, TOMORROW AROUND MIDDAY, LOCAL GUSTS OF E and SE WINDS EXPECTED TO REACH 35-40 KNOTS.

SYNOPSIS

A ridge of high pressure is still intensifying over the Adriatic from the north. It is expected to weaken and a trough to approach rapidly from the west tomorrow.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE ADRIATIC FOR THE FIRST 12 HOURS

NW and NE winds 5-15, in the open of the South Adriatic NW up to 20 knots, easing gradually. In the Velebit Channel NE winds 15-25 knots. Sea 2-3, in the open 3-4, but calming later on. Mostly clear and very cold.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE NEXT 12 HOURS

E and SE winds expected to strengthen tomorrow during the forenoon to moderate to strong. West of Istria mainly moderate, in the Velebit Channel still up to strong, NE winds. Sea smooth or slight, increasing gradually. Cloud increase, then sleet and snow in places, in the South, then gradually in the rest of the Adriatic, mainly rain. Air temperatures will warm up.
