SYNOPSIS

A ridge of high pressure is slowly intensifying toward the Adriatic and a cold front is approaching from the north, while a broad field of low pressure lies over the Mediterranean.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE ADRIATIC FOR THE FIRST 12 HOURS

NE, in the open of the South Adriatic at first still E and SE winds, 14-28, in places up to 34, and in the Velebit Channel strengthening up to 48 knots. Sea 3-4, in the open and in the Velebit Channel 4-5, and in the open of the North Adriatic possibly up to 6. Visibility 10-20 km. Partly clear, but toward the open sea variably cloudy with a risk of a little rain or isolated rain showers with thunder.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE NEXT 12 HOURS

Strong and near gale, in places up to gale force, and in the Velebit Channel up to storm force NE winds. Sea moderate and rough, in the North Adriatic possibly up to very rough. A new heavier cloud increase, bringing rain, sleet and snow in places. Isolated rain showers with thunder are also possible. Air temperatures will drop.
