LOCAL GUSTS OF NE and N WINDS 35-55, IN THE VELEBIT CHANNEL THIS MORNING STILL UP TO 60 KNOTS. SEA IN THE OPEN OF THE SOUTH ADRIATIC IN THE SECOND PART OF THE DAY POSSIBLY UP TO 5. A LITTLE RISK OF LIGHT ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS IN THE OPEN SEA AT FIRST.

SYNOPSIS

A ridge of high pressure is intensifying toward the Adriatic from the north, while a low over the Ionian Sea is shifting slowly southeastwards.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE ADRIATIC FOR THE FIRST 12 HOURS

NE and N winds 12-24, in places up to 28, in the Velebit Channel this morning still up to 32 knots, only west and north of Istria 6-16 knots. In the afternoon wind will turn in the open to NW and slowly ease toward the end of the day. Sea 2-3, in the open south of Istria and in the Velebit Channel 3-4, in the open of the South Adriatic in the afternoon possibly up to 5. Visibility 10-20 km. Mostly clear, only in the open sea at first still variably cloudy with a risk of scattered rain or isolated rain showers with thunder, particularly in the extreme south.
