LOCAL GUSTS OF SE WINDS 35-55 KNOTS. SEA LOCALLY 5, IN THE OPEN OF THE NORTH AND CENTRAL ADRIATIC POSSIBLY UP TO 6 TODAY. A RISK OF FOG PATCHES IN THE NORTH ADRIATIC, MAINLY TOWARD THE OPEN SEA. THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED FIRSTLY IN THE NORTH, DURING THE NIGHT IN THE CENTRAL ADRIATIC AS WELL.

SYNOPSIS

A trough with frontal system is approaching from the west, while a field of high pressure over the Adriatic will weaken slowly.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE ADRIATIC FOR THE FIRST 12 HOURS

SE winds 14-28, in places up to 34, in the open still up to 38 knots today. Sea 4-5, in the open of the North and Central Adriatic possibly up to 6. Visibility 5-15, in the North Adriatic possibly less than 1 km due to fog, mainly in the open sea. Variably cloudy with light scattered rain, while isolated rain showers with thunder are expected firstly in the North Adriatic.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE NEXT 12 HOURS

Strong and near gale force, in places up to gale force SE winds, will ease gradually in the North, toward the morning in a part of the Central Adriatic as well, and turn to moderate NW winds. Sea moderate and rough, in the open of the North and Central Adriatic at first possibly up to very rough, calming in the northern part of the Adriatic from the middle of the night. Overcast with rain in places, in the North and Central Adriatic with isolated rain showers and thunder.
