LOCAL GUSTS OF NE and N WINDS 35-45, IN THE EXTREME SOUTH, DURING THE FORENOON IN THE VELEBIT CHANNEL AS WELL, UP TO 55 KNOTS. STILL A LITTLE RISK OF LIGHT ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS IN THE OPEN SEA.

SYNOPSIS

A field of high pressure lies over the Adriatic, while a low over the Ionian Sea is slowly shifting eastwards.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE ADRIATIC FOR THE FIRST 12 HOURS

NE and N winds 12-24, in the extreme south and in the morning in the Velebit Channel as well, up to 28, easing in the North and in a part of the Central Adriatic in the afternoon to 6-16, in the Velebit Channel still up to 20 knots. Sea 2-3, in the open 3-4. Visibility 20 km. Mostly clear and cold. In the open sea this morning still variably cloudy with a little risk of light scattered rain or brief isolated rain showers with thunder.

Moderate, in places up to strong NE and N winds, in the South Adriatic up to near gale force. Sea smooth or slight, in the open of the South and Central Adriatic up to moderate. Mostly clear, but gradual cloud increase is expected.
