IN THE VELEBIT CHANNEL AT FIRST STILL A RISK OF GUSTS OF NE WINDS 30-40, AND IN THE OPEN OF THE SOUTH AND CENTRAL ADRIATIC FROM MIDDAY OF NW WINDS AROUND 35 KNOTS. ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS, MAINLY IN THE SOUTH ADRIATIC.

SYNOPSIS

A ridge of high pressure is intensifying over the Adriatic from west, while a shallow filed of low pressure over the Tyrrhenian Sea is slowly filling up.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE ADRIATIC FOR THE FIRST 12 HOURS

NE winds 6-16, in the Velebit Channel at first still up to 20, turning toward midday to NW 6-16, and strengthening in the South and Central Adriatic later on to 10-20, locally toward the open sea up to 24 knots. Sea 2-3, increasing in the open of the South and Central Adriatic toward the end of the day to 3-4. Visibility 10-20 km. Mostly clear, but in places of the South Adriatic and in the open sea of the Central still variably cloudy with a risk of rain or isolated rain showers with thunder.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE NEXT 12 HOURS

Passing cloud increase, in places of the South Adriatic variably cloudy with a little risk of rain or isolated rain showers with thunder. Moderate, in the South and Central Adriatic fresh, and toward the open sea up to strong NW winds, easing a little and turning again in places along the coast in the second part of the night to light to moderate NE. Sea smooth or slight, in the open of the South and of a part of the Central Adriatic possibly up to moderate.
