LOCAL GUSTS OF NE WINDS 35-55, IN THE NORTH ADRIATIC UP TO 65, AND IN THE VELEBIT CHNANNEL UP TO 80, AND IN THE SOUTH AND IN A PART OF THE CENTRAL ADRIATIC OF SW 35-45 KNOTS, GRADUALLY EASING IN THE AFTERNOON. IN THE NORTH ADRIATIC SEA STILL UP TO 5 THIS MORNING. ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS.

SYNOPSIS

A ridge of high pressure is intensifying from the west, while a field of low pressure over Italy and the South Adriatic is slowly filling up.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE ADRIATIC FOR THE FIRST 12 HOURS

NE winds 14-28, in the North Adriatic up to 34, in the Velebit Channel up to 42, gradually easing from midday to 10-20, in the Velebit Channel to 14-28 knots, and turning toward the open sea to NW. In the South and in a part of the Central Adriatic SW winds 14-26, easing late in the afternoon and turning to NW and NE 6-16 knots. Sea 3-4, in the open of the North Adriatic during the forenoon 4-5, but calming late in the day to 2-3. Variably cloudy and cold with scattered rain, isolated rain showers and thunder, particularly in the southern part.

NE winds will continue to ease. From the middle of the night mainly light to moderate, in the Velebit Channel still up to strong NE winds. Toward the open sea moderate NW winds. Sea smooth or slight. In the North and Central Adriatic partial clearing, in the South still cloudy with scattered rain or isolated rain showers with thunder.
