LOCAL GUSTS OF NE WINDS 35-40, IN THE VELEBIT CHANNEL UP TO 55 KNOTS, EASING IN THE SECOND PART OF THE NIGHT. IN THE OPEN SEA OF THE SOUTH AND OF A PART OF THE CENTRAL ADRIATIC A RISK OF GUSTS OF NW WINDS UP TO 35 KNOTS. IN THE SOUTH ADRIATIC A RISK OF LIGHT ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS.

SYNOPSIS

A ridge of high pressure is extending from the northwest toward the Adriatic, while a low over the Ionian Sea is slowly filling up and shifting southeastwards.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE ADRIATIC FOR THE FIRST 12 HOURS

NE winds 8-18, in the North and in a part of the Central Adriatic up to 22, and in the Velebit Channel up to 28 knots. In the open sea of the South and of a part of the Central Adriatic NW winds 10-20, only in places up to 24 knots. Sea 2-3, in the open and in the Velebit Channel locally 3-4. Visibility 10-20 km. Fine or fair, in the South Adriatic variably with a risk of scattered rain or isolated rain showers and thunder, mainly in the open sea.

Moderate, in places up to strong NE winds gradually easing to light to moderate and turning to NW toward midday. In the open sea of the South and of a part of the Central Adriatic moderate to strong NW winds, easing slowly toward midday. Sea smooth or slight, locally in the open still up to moderate at first. Fine or fair, in the South Adriatic variably cloudy with a risk of scattered rain or isolated rain showers with thunder.
