LOCAL GUSTS OF NE WINDS 30-40, IN THE NORTH ADRIATIC UP TO 60, AND IN THE VELEBIT CHANNEL UP TO 70 KNOTS. SEA IN THE NORTH ADRIATIC POSSIBLY UP TO 5. A RISK OF ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS IN THE EXTREME SOUTH OF THE ADRIATIC.

SYNOPSIS

A ridge of high pressure is extending from the northwest toward the Adriatic, while a low is still lies over the Ionian Sea.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE ADRIATIC FOR THE FIRST 12 HOURS

NE winds 10-20, in the North and in a part of the Central Adriatic up to 28, in the Velebit Channel up to 36 knots. Sea 2-3, in the open 3-4, and in the North Adriatic possibly up to 5. Visibility 10-20 km. Variably cloudy with a risk of scattered rain in the wider area of Rijeka and in the South Adriatic, and of isolated rain showers with thunder in the extreme south.

Clearing, but in the south of the Adriatic still a little risk of light scattered rain. Light to fresh, in the North and in a part of the Central Adriatic up to strong and near gale force, in the Velebit Channel up to gale force NE winds, easing a little. In the open sea moderate and fresh NW winds. Sea slight and moderate, in the North Adriatic possibly up to rough at first.
