SYNOPSIS

A ridge of high pressure is extending from the north toward the Adriatic, while a low over the Ionian Sea is slowly filling up.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE ADRIATIC FOR THE FIRST 12 HOURS

NE, locally in the open sea of the Central and South Adriatic NW winds, 12-24, in the Velebit Channel NE up to 32 knots. Sea 2-3, in the open and in the Velebit Channel 3-4. Visibility above 20 km. Fine or fair. In places still variably cloudy with a risk of a little rain in the wider area of Rijeka, and of isolated rain showers with thunder in the extreme south of the Adriatic and in the Strait of Otranto.

Moderate to fresh NE, in the open sea NW, and in the Velebit Channel NE winds up to near gale force. Sea smooth or slight, in the open and in the Velebit Channel up to moderate. Fine or fair, in the extreme south of the Adriatic still variably cloudy with a risk of isolated rain showers with thunder.
