SYNOPSIS

A ridge of high pressure has intensified toward the Adriatic, while a low over the Tyrrhenian Sea is slowly filling up and shifting eastwards.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE ADRIATIC FOR THE FIRST 12 HOURS

NE and E, in the open of the South Adriatic SE winds, 14-28, in the Velebit Channel NE up to 38, easing from midday to 12-24, in the Velebit Channel to 28 knots. Sea 3-4, in the open 4-5, gradually calming to 2-3, in the open to 3-4. Visibility 10-20 km. Variably cloudy with scattered rain or isolated rain showers with thunder, particularly in the open of the Central and South Adriatic. No significant change in air temperatures.

Moderate to strong NE and E, in the Velebit Channel up to near gale force NE winds. Sea smooth or slight, in the open up to moderate. Partial clearing, but in places still variably cloudy with a risk of rain or showers with thunder, mainly in the open sea of the Central and South Adriatic.
