SYNOPSIS

A ridge of high pressure is intensifying toward the Adriatic, while a low over the Tyrrhenian Sea is slowly filling up.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE ADRIATIC FOR THE FIRST 12 HOURS

NE winds 16-38, in the northern part of the Adriatic up to 44, in the Velebit Channel up to 50, and in the South Adriatic E and NE, in the open sea SE winds, 14-32 knots. Sea increasing to 4-5, toward the open of the North and of a part of the Central Adriatic up to 6. Visibility 10-20 km. Mainly cloudy with rain, isolated rain showers and thunder.

Strong and gale force, in the Velebit Channel up to storm force NE, in the South Adriatic moderate to strong, in places up to near gale force E and NE, and in the open sea SE winds. Sea moderate and rough, toward the open of the North and of a part of the Central Adriatic possibly up to very rough. Variably cloudy with rain, showers and thunder.
