SYNOPSIS

A low over the Tyrrhenian Sea is circulating and slowly filling up, while a ridge of high pressure is intensifying from the north.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE ADRIATIC FOR THE FIRST 12 HOURS

In the North and Central Adriatic NE winds 20-40, in the Velebit Channel up to 50 knots. In the South Adriatic SE and E winds 15-30, turning along the coast from midday to NE 12-24 knots. Sea increasing to 4-5, toward the open of the North and a part of the Central Adriatic up to 6. Visibility 10-20 km. Mainly cloudy with rain, showers and thunder, in the Velebit Channel this morning possibly with some wind drifted snow.

Strong and near gale force, in the North and in a part of the Central Adriatic up to gale force, in the Velebit Channel possibly up to storm force, NE winds. In the South Adriatic moderate to strong, in places up to near gale force SE and E, along the coast still NE winds at first. Sea moderate and rough, toward the open of the North and a part of the Central Adriatic possibly up to very rough. Variably cloudy with rain, showers and thunder.
