LOCAL GUSTS OF NE and N WINDS 35-50, IN THE SOUTH AND IN A PART OF THE CENTRAL ADRIATIC UP TO 65 KNOTS. SEA IN THE OPEN OF THE SOUTH AND OF A PART OF THE CENTRAL ADRIATIC UP TO 5. LIGHT ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS STILL POSSIBLE IN THE EXTREME SOUTH AT FIRST.

SYNOPSIS

A ridge of high pressure is extending toward the Adriatic from the northwest, while a new trough is expected to approach from the north.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE ADRIATIC FOR THE FIRST 12 HOURS

NE and N winds 14-28, in the South and in a part of the Central Adriatic up to 34 knots, easing in the North Adriatic around midday and turning to SW 4-14, and gradually easing in the Central and South Adriatic toward the end of the day. Sea 2-3, toward the open 3-4, in the open of the South and of a part of the Central Adriatic up to 5, but calming toward the end of the day. Visibility 20 km. Fine or fair, but in the extreme south of the Adriatic at first still variably cloudy with a risk of isolated rain showers and thunder.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE NEXT 12 HOURS

In the North Adriatic SW winds strengthening to moderate and fresh, in the South and Central Adriatic moderate to strong NE and N winds easing in the second part of the night and gradually turning to mainly light SW winds. Sea smooth or slight, toward the open of the South and of a part of the Central Adriatic moderate, calming gradually. Fine or fair, but cloud increase is expected in the North Adriatic in the second part of the night.
