LOCAL GUSTS OF NE and NW WINDS 35-65, IN THE VELEBIT CHANNEL UP TO 75 KNOTS. SEA LOCALLY 5, IN THE OPEN OF THE SOUTH AND CENTRAL ADRIATIC POSSIBLY UP TO 6 TODAY. STILL A RISK OF ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS IN THE SOUTH AND IN A PART OF THE CENTRAL ADRIATIC.

SYNOPSIS

A ridge of high pressure is intensifying from the west, while a low over the Ionian Sea is slowly filling up and some unstable air is still circulating over the Adriatic.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE ADRIATIC FOR THE FIRST 12 HOURS

NE and NW winds 14-28, in places up to 34, and in the Velebit Channel and in the open of the South and Central Adriatic up to 38 knots. Sea 3-4, locally 5, and in the open of the South and Central Adriatic possibly up to 6 today. Visibility 10-20 km. Variably cloudy, still with a risk of scattered rain or isolated rain showers and thunder in the South and in a part of the Central Adriatic. In the North Adriatic mostly clear.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE NEXT 12 HOURS

Strong and gale force NE and NW winds gradually easing from the middle of the night to moderate to strong, only in places still up to near gale force. Sea slight and moderate, locally up to rough, in the open of the South and Central Adriatic in the first part of the night still up to very rough. Gradual clearing, but in the South Adriatic still a risk of rain or showers with thunder at first.
