LOCAL GUSTS OF NE and NW WINDS 35-70, IN THE VELEBIT CHANNEL UP TO 80 KNOTS. SEA LOCALLY UP TO 5, IN THE OPEN OF THE SOUTH AND CENTRAL ADRIATIC TOWARD THE END OF THE DAY POSSIBLY UP TO 6. ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS.

SYNOPSIS

A trough with frontal system will be shifting from the south of the Adriatic further eastwards, while a ridge of high pressure will intensify from the west.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE ADRIATIC FOR THE FIRST 12 HOURS

NE and NW winds strengthening to 18-34, in the Velebit Channel and in the open of the South and Central Adriatic toward the end of the day up to 44 knots. West and north of Istria NE and NW winds 6-16, in places up to 20 knots. Sea increasing to 4-5, in the open of the South and Central Adriatic toward the end of the day possibly up to 6, west and north of Istria 2-3. Visibility 10-20 km. Variably cloudy with scattered rain or isolated rain showers and thunder, particularly in the southern part, but partial clearing is expected in the northern part of the Adriatic toward the end of the day and during the night.

Strong and gale force, in the Velebit Channel and in the open of the South and Central Adriatic up to strong gale force NE and NW winds. West and north of Istria light to fresh NE and NW winds. Sea moderate and rough, in the open of the South and Central Adriatic possibly up to very rough, west and north of Istria smooth or slight. Variably cloudy with a risk of rain or isolated rain showers and thunder, mainly in the southern part of the Adriatic, but in the North, in the morning in the greater part of the Central Adriatic, partial clearing.
