LOCAL GUSTS OF NE and NW WINDS 35-65, IN THE VELEBIT CHANNEL UP TO 75, AND IN THE SOUTH ADRIATIC AT FIRST STILL OF SW 35-45 KNOTS. SEA LOCALLY UP TO 5, IN THE OPEN OF THE SOUTH AND CENTRAL ADRIATIC POSSIBLY UP TO 6 TOWARD THE END OF THE DAY. ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS.

SYNOPSIS

A trough with frontal system will be shifting from the Adriatic further eastwards, while a ridge of high pressure will intensify from the west.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE ADRIATIC FOR THE FIRST 12 HOURS

NE and NW winds strengthening to 14-28, in places up to 34, in the Velebit Channel and in the open of the South and Central Adriatic toward the end of the day up to 38 knots. In the southern part at first still SW winds 12-26 knots. Sea increasing to 4-5, in the open of the South and Central Adriatic toward the end of the day possibly up to 6. Visibility 10-20 km. Variably cloudy with scattered rain or isolated rain showers with thunder, particularly in the southern part.

Strong and near gale force, in places up to gale force NE and NW winds. Sea moderate and rough, in the open of the South and Central Adriatic possibly up to very rough. Still variably cloudy in places with a chance of rain or isolated rain showers with thunder, but partial clearing is expected in the North Adriatic.
