THUNDERSTORMS EXPECTED FIRSTLY IN THE NORTH AND IN A PART OF THE CENTRAL ADRIATIC. LOCAL GUSTS OF SE WINDS 35-45 KNOTS. IN THE NORTH ADRIATIC TOWARD THE END OF THE DAY, THEN GRADUALLY IN THE CENTRAL, GUSTS OF NE and NW WINDS 35-60, IN THE VELEBIT CHANNEL OF NE UP TO 80, AND IN THE SOUTH ADRIATIC IN THE SECOND PART OF THE NIGHT BRIEF GUSTS OF SW WINDS 35-45 KNOTS. IN THE OPEN OF THE NORTH AND CENTRAL ADRIATIC, AND IN THE VELEBIT CHANNEL DURING THE NIGHT AND IN THE MORNING, SEA UP TO 5.

SYNOPSIS

A low with frontal system will be shifting rapidly from the Gulf of Genoa across the Adriatic further eastwards.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE ADRIATIC FOR THE FIRST 12 HOURS

SE winds strengthening to 10-20, in places up to 26, turning in the North Adriatic late in the day and in a part of the Central later on, to NE and NW 14-28, in the Velebit Channel up to 40 knots. Sea 2-3, gradually increasing to 3-4, in the open of the North Adriatic during the night up to 5. Visibility 5-15 km. Mainly cloudy with rain, showers and thunder, firstly in the North and in a part of the Central Adriatic.

In the North and Central Adriatic moderate to near gale force, in places up to gale force NE and NW winds. In the South Adriatic strong SE winds turning to SW. Sea 3-4, in the open of the North and Central Adriatic increasing to 4-5. Overcast with rain, in places with heavier rain showers and thunder.
