SYNOPSIS

A cold front is shifting across the Adriatic while a ridge of high pressure will intensify from the northwest in the evening.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE ADRIATIC FOR THE FIRST 12 HOURS

NW winds 4-14, in places briefly up to 18 knots. In the evening NE winds strengthening to 12-24, in the Velebit Channel briefly up to 28 knots. Sea increasing to 2-3, locally during the night possibly to 3-4. Visibility 10-20 km. Variably cloudy with scattered rain and with a chance of isolated rain showers and thunder. Precipitation dying out late in the day and cloud breaking up later on, firstly in the North Adriatic.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE NEXT 12 HOURS

Fine or fair, in the extreme south of the Adriatic at first some more cloud and a little rain in places. Moderate to strong, in the Velebit Channel up to near gale force NE winds. In the North Adriatic before the morning NE winds will ease and turn in the Central and South Adriatic during the forenoon to light to moderate, toward the open sea up to fresh, N and NW winds. Sea slight, locally during the night possibly up to moderate, calming to smooth in the North Adriatic in the morning.
