SYNOPSIS

A ridge of high pressure is intensifying from the northwest toward the Adriatic, while a deep low still lies over the Ionian Sea.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE ADRIATIC FOR THE FIRST 12 HOURS

NE and N winds 15-25, in places up to 35, and in the Velebit Channel up to 50 knots. West of Istria, during the night in the rest of the North and in a part of the Central Adriatic, NE winds easing to 6-16 knots. Sea 3-4, in the open 4-5, calming gradually during the night. Visibility above 20 km. Mostly clear, but in places still variably cloudy with rain only in the extreme south of the Adriatic at first.

Moderate to strong NE, in places of the South and of a part of the Central Adriatic up to near gale force, easing gradually to mainly moderate, and turning in the open to moderate and fresh NW winds. Sea slight, in the open of the South and of a part of the Central Adriatic up to moderate. Mostly clear.
