LOCAL GUSTS OF S and SW, THEN OF NW, AND IN THE EXTREME NORTH AND IN THE VELEBIT CHANNEL AROUND MIDDAY BRIEFLY OF NE WINDS, 35-45 KNOTS. A RISK OF ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS, PARTICULARLY DURING THE FORENOON.

SYNOPSIS

A trough with frontal system is shifting across the Adriatic further eastwards and a ridge of high pressure from the south will intensify a little later on.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE ADRIATIC FOR THE FIRST 12 HOURS

S and SW winds gradually turning to NW, 12-24, in the open sea up to 28 knots, firstly in the North, from midday in the South Adriatic as well, in the extreme north and in the Velebit Channel briefly to NE. NW winds will ease toward the end of the day and turn again in the North Adriatic to SE and SW 4-14 knots. Sea 3-4, gradually calming in the North and in a part of the Central Adriatic in the afternoon to 2-3. Visibility 10-20, in places during the forenoon possibly around 5 km due to mist. Overcast with rain, showers and thunder in places. Clearing is expected in the North Adriatic around midday and gradually in the rest of the Adriatic in the afternoon.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE NEXT 12 HOURS

In the North Adriatic light to moderate SE and SW, in the Central and South Adriatic moderate to strong NW winds, rapidly easing and turning in places along the coast to NE. Sea smooth or slight, in the South Adriatic still up to moderate in the first part of the night. Mostly clear and a little colder. In the extreme south of the Adriatic still a risk of rain at first.
