SYNOPSIS

A ridge of high pressure is intensifying toward the Adriatic from the northeast, while a shallow low over the Ionian Sea is filling up and shifting eastwards.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE ADRIATIC FOR THE FIRST 12 HOURS

NE winds 10-20, in places up to 26, in the Velebit Channel up to 40, gradually easing toward the end of the day to 6-16, in the Velebit Channel to 14-28 knots. Sea 2-3, toward the open of the North and South Adriatic 3-4, and in the Velebit Channel during the forenoon 4-5. Visibility 10-20 km. Mostly clear with some passing cloud in the morning. In the open sea variably cloudy with a little risk of light scattered rain, mainly in the extreme south of the Adriatic.

Light to moderate, in the Velebit Channel and in the extreme south of the Adriatic up to strong, in the first part of the night up to near gale force, NE winds, easing toward the morning. Sea slight, calming. Mostly clear with some variable cloudiness in the open sea.
