IN THE OPEN SEA LOCAL GUSTS OF NW WINDS 35-55 KNOTS AND SEA LOCALLY UP TO 5, EASING IN THE NORTH ADRIATIC IN THE MORNING, IN THE CENTRAL IN THE AFTERNOON, AND IN THE SOUTH ADRIATIC DURING THE NIGHT. IN THE VELEBIT CHANNEL IN THE SECOND PART OF THE NIGHT LOCAL GUSTS OF NE WINDS 35-45 KNOTS. IN THE CENTRAL AND SOUTH ADRIATIC ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS, GRADUALLY DYING OUT DURING THE DAY, MOST LATELY IN THE EXTREME SOUTH DURING THE NIGHT.

SYNOPSIS

A local low is shifting across the Adriatic southeastwards, while a low is expected to generate over the Tyrrhenian Sea during the night.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE ADRIATIC FOR THE FIRST 12 HOURS

THE NORTH ADRIATIC: W and NW, in places along the coast NE winds, 6-16, in the open sea, south of Istria, NW up to 24 knots, easing later on. Sea 2-3, south of Istria 3-4, calming later on. Visibility 20 km. Partial clearing, but rain still lingering in the southern part at first. THE CENTRAL AND SOUTH ADRIATIC: NW and W winds 10-20, in the open sea up to 35, easing in the Central Adriatic in the afternoon and in the South during the night to 6-16 knots. Sea 3-4, in the open 4-5, gradually calming. Visibility 10-20 km. Overcast with rain, showers and thunder, but precipitation expected to die out and cloud to break up, most lately in the extreme south.

In the North Adriatic light to moderate E and NE, in the Velebit Channel till the morning NE winds up to strong, in the Central and South Adriatic light to moderate E and NE, in the open SE winds. Sea smooth or slight, in the extreme south at first, in the north till the morning, up to moderate. Variably cloudy, still with rain, showers and thunder in the South Adriatic at first.
