SYNOPSIS

A ridge of high pressure is extending over the Adriatic from the northwest, while a cold front is approaching from the northeast.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE ADRIATIC FOR THE FIRST 12 HOURS

Calm or NW and SW winds 4-8, in the open sea up to 14 knots. Late in the day, firstly in the North, then in the rest of the Adriatic as well, NE and E winds strengthening to 6-16, in the Central Adriatic up to 20, in the North Adriatic up to 24, and in the Velebit Channel up to 28 knots. Sea 2-3, locally in the North and in a part of the Central Adriatic up to 4. Visibility 10-20, but in places at first still possibly less than 1 km due to fog. Variably cloudy with a very little chance of light scattered rain.

In the North and in a part of the Central Adriatic fair or mainly cloudy with scattered rain, mainly in the open sea. Elsewhere fine or fair. Light to moderate, in the North and in a part of the Central Adriatic moderate to strong NE and E winds, easing toward midday. In the open sea light to fresh E and SE winds. Sea smooth or slight, in the North and in a part of the Central Adriatic up to moderate.
