THIS MORNING STILL LOCAL GUSTS OF NW WINDS UP TO 35 KNOTS AND SEA UP TO 5 IN THE OPEN OF THE SOUTH AND OF A PART OF THE CENTRAL ADRIATIC. ALONG THE COAST DURING THE NIGHT LOCAL GUSTS OF NE WINDS UP TO 35, IN THE VELEBIT CHANNEL UP TO 55 KNOTS.

SYNOPSIS

A ridge of high pressure is intensifying from the north toward the Adriatic, while some moist air is still circulating in high levels.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE ADRIATIC FOR THE FIRST 12 HOURS

NE and NW, in the North Adriatic NE and E, and in the open sea SE winds, 6-16 knots. In the open of the South and of a part of the Central Adriatic NW winds up to 28, gradually easing toward midday to 6-16 knots. In the North Adriatic in the evening NE winds strengthening to 10-20, in the Velebit Channel up to 24 knots. Sea 2-3, in the open of the South and of a part of the Central Adriatic 4-5, gradually calming, but in the North Adriatic increasing again through the night to 3-4. Visibility 10-20 km. Mostly clear, but gradual cloud increase is expected, firstly in the North Adriatic, where rain is also likely, mainly in the open sea.

In the North and in a part of the Central Adriatic, in the second part of the night elsewhere as well, NE winds strengthening to moderate and fresh, in the Velebit Channel up to near gale force. Sea increasing to slight, in the open of the North Adriatic up to moderate. Variably cloudy with scattered rain in the North Adriatic, mainly in the open sea.
