ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS, PARTICULARLY IN THE SOUTH ADRIATIC. LOCAL GUSTS OF NE and NW, IN THE EXTREME SOUTH OF THE ADRIATIC TODAY OF SE WINDS, 35-45, IN THE VELEBIT CHANNEL UP TO 55 KNOTS. SEA POSSIBLY UP TO 5 IN THE OPEN OF THE SOUTH ADRIATIC.

SYNOPSIS

A low with frontal system lies over the South Adriatic.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE ADRIATIC FOR THE FIRST 12 HOURS

In the North and Central Adriatic mainly NE and NW winds 8-18, in the Velebit Channel up to 24 knots. Winds will gradually strengthen during the night to 12-24, in the open sea and in the Velebit Channel up to 28 knots. In the South Adriatic mainly SE winds 10-20, in the extreme south briefly up to 30 knots. Sea 2-3, increasing in the open during the night to 3-4, in the extreme south of the Adriatic possibly to 4-5. Visibility 10-20 km. Mainly cloudy with scattered rain or isolated rain showers and thunder, particularly in the South Adriatic.

In the North and Central Adriatic moderate to strong, in the Velebit Channel up to near gale force NE, and toward the open sea strong and near gale force NW winds. In the South Adriatic SE winds gradually turning to moderate to strong NW, in the open sea up to near gale force. Sea increasing to slight and moderate, in the open of the South Adriatic possibly up to rough. Overcast with rain or showers with thunder, but precipitation dying out and cloud thinning and breaking up along the coat of the North and Central Adriatic.
