LOCAL GUSTS OF NE WINDS 35-45, IN THE NORTH ADRIATIC UP TO 60 AND IN THE VELEBIT CHANNEL UP TO 70 KNOTS, EASING TOMORROW. SEA IN THE NORTH ADRIATIC POSSIBLY UP TO 5, CALMING TOMORROW. ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS.

SYNOPSIS

A cold front is shifting across the Adriatic southeastwards, while a ridge of high pressure is intensifying from the northwest.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE ADRIATIC FOR THE FIRST 12 HOURS

In the North and Central, during the night in the South Adriatic as well, NE winds strengthening to 12-26, in the North Adriatic up to 32, in the Velebit Channel up to 38 knots, easing a little in the North Adriatic through the night. In the South Adriatic during the day still SE and SW winds 6-16, in places up to 20 knots. Sea 3-4, in the North Adriatic possibly up to 5. Visibility 10-20 km. Mainly cloudy with rain, isolated rain showers and thunder. Skies will clear up in the North Adriatic late in the day and in greater part of the Central through the night.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE NEXT 12 HOURS

In the South and in a part of the Central Adriatic variably cloudy with scattered rain and with a chance of isolated rain showers and thunder. Elsewhere mostly clear with some clouds in places. Moderate to strong, in the Velebit Channel at first still up to near gale force NE winds, gradually easing to moderate and fresh, in the morning to light, firstly in the northern part of the Adriatic. Sea slight and moderate, in the northern part of the Adriatic at first possibly up to rough, but calming in the morning to smooth and slight.
