LOCAL GUSTS OF NE WINDS 35-55, IN THE VELEBIT CHANNEL AT FIRST STILL UP TO 70, EASING TOWARD THE END OF THE DAY AND DURING THE NIGHT TO 35-45 KNOTS AND DYING AWAY TOMORROW DURING THE FORENOON. SEA POSSIBLY UP TO 5 IN THE SOUTH ADRIATIC.

SYNOPSIS

A field of high pressure lies over the Adriatic, while a low over the Ionian Sea is filling up.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE ADRIATIC FOR THE FIRST 12 HOURS

NE winds 15-25, in places up to 30, in the Velebit Channel at first still up to 35, easing gradually to 10-20 knots, firstly in the North, till the evening in the Central Adriatic as well. Sea 3-4, in the open of the southern part 4-5, calming in the North Adriatic toward the end of the day and in the Central during the night. Visibility above 20 km. Mostly clear. In the extreme south of the Adriatic today still variably cloudy with a chance of rain.

Mostly clear. Moderate to fresh NE winds, in the extreme south of the Adriatic at first still up to strong, easing in the morning to light to moderate, and gradually turning toward the open sea to NW. Sea smooth or slight, in the South Adriatic during the night moderate, at first up to rough.
