LOCAL GUSTS OF NE WINDS 35-55, IN THE VELEBIT CHANNEL UP TO 75 KNOTS. SEA POSSIBLY UP TO 5 IN THE OPEN. IN THE OPEN OF THE SOUTH, AT FIRST OF A PART OF THE CENTRAL ADRIATIC AS WELL, A CHANCE OF LIGHT ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS.

SYNOPSIS

A field of high pressure is intensifying toward the Adriatic from the northwest, while a shallow low will be shifting from the Tyrrhenian toward the Ionian Sea.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE ADRIATIC FOR THE FIRST 12 HOURS

NE winds 12-24, in places up to 28, and in the Velebit Channel up to 38 knots. Sea 3-4, in the open possibly 4-5. Visibility above 20 km. Mostly clear, but variably cloudy with a chance of rain or isolated thundery rain showers still in the open of the South, at first of a part of the Central Adriatic as well.

Strong and near gale force, in the Velebit Channel up to gale force NE winds. Sea slight and moderate, in the open possibly up to rough. Mostly clear, but in the extreme south of the Adriatic still variably cloudy with a chance of rain or isolated thundery rain showers.
