IN THE AFTERNOON TOWARDS THE OPEN SEA OF THE SOUTH AND OF A PART OF THE CENTRAL ADRIATIC TEMPORARILY GUSTS OF NW WIND 35-45 KNOTS, CEASING TILL THE END OF THE DAY. IN THE MORNING A LIGHT ISOLATED THUNDERSTORM LOCALLY IN THE SOUTH ADRIATIC.

SYNOPSIS

A trough with weakened frontal system is shifting over the South Adriatic towards the east while a ridge of high is strengthening from the north-west.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE ADRIATIC FOR THE FIRST 12 HOURS

In the North Adriatic NE wind 8-16, in the Velebit Channel locally up to 24 knots, diminishing in the morning and turning to NW wind 6-12 knots. Elsewhere NW wind 8-16, in the afternoon towards the open sea of the South and of a part of the Central Adriatic 14-24 knots. Sea 2-3, in the afternoon towards the open sea of the South and of a part of the Central Adriatic 3-4. Visibility 15-25 km. Partial clearing up, in the morning in the South and in a part of the Central Adriatic with variable cloudiness scattered rain or a shower with thunder, then clearing up. No significant change in air temperatures.

Mostly clear, in the North Adriatic with variable cloudiness. In the North Adriatic almost calm or with light wind from variable direction, elsewhere along the coast light to moderate NE wind, in the evening towards the open sea moderate NW wind, ceasing in the second part of the night. Sea smooth to slight, still this evening in the open of the South Adriatic towards the Strait of Otranto moderate, in the course of the night gradually calming.
