TOWARD THE OPEN OF THE SOUTH AND CENTRAL ADRIATIC IN THE AFTERNOON LOCAL GUSTS OF N and NW WINDS 35-45 KNOTS. LATE IN THE DAY AND DURING THE NIGHT LOCAL GUSTS OF NE and NW WINDS 35-55, IN THE VELEBIT CHANNEL UP TO 65 KNOTS. IN THE OPEN SEA OF THE SOUTH AND CENTRAL ADRIATIC DURING THE NIGHT SEA UP TO 5. IN THE SOUTH ADRIATIC STILL A CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS IN THE FIRST PART OF THE DAY.

SYNOPSIS

A trough with the frontal system is shifting further eastwards, while a ridge of high pressure is extending toward the Adriatic from the north.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE ADRIATIC FOR THE FIRST 12 HOURS

NE winds 6-16, turning toward the midday to N and NW and gradually strengthening to 10-20, toward the open of the South and Central Adriatic up to 24 knots. Sea 2-3, increasing toward the open to 3-4. Visibility 20 km. Mostly clear, but in the South Adriatic in the first part of the day still variably cloudy with a chance of rain or isolated rain showers and thunder.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE NEXT 12 HOURS

Moderate to strong N and NW, turning along the coast late in the day to NE and strengthening to near gale force, in the Velebit Channel up to gale force. Sea slight and moderate, in the open of the South and Central Adriatic possibly up to rough. Mostly clear with some clouds only in places.
