IN THE VELEBIT CHANNEL AND IN THE EXTREME NORTH AND SOUTH OF THE ADRIATIC A CHANCE OF GUSTS OF NE WINDS 35-45 KNOTS, MAINLY THIS MORNING AND AGAIN DURING THE NIGHT. IN THE SOUTH AND IN A PART OF THE CENTRAL ADRIATIC A CHANCE OF LIGHT ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS.

SYNOPSIS

A ridge of high pressure is extending from the north toward the Adriatic, while a trough still lies over the South Adriatic.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE ADRIATIC FOR THE FIRST 12 HOURS

In the North and Central Adriatic NE, in the afternoon W and NW winds, 6-16, in the Velebit Channel and in the extreme north of the Adriatic mainly NE winds 6-16, in places in the morning up to 20 knots. In the South Adriatic SE and E winds 6-16 knots. Sea 2-3. Visibility 10-20 km. Mostly clear, but in the South and in a part of the Central Adriatic variably cloudy with rain or isolated thundery rain showers.

Light to moderate, in the Velebit Channel and in the extreme north of the Adriatic up to fresh NE, and toward the open sea at first light to moderate NW winds. In the South Adriatic light to moderate SE winds turning to NE, in the extreme south up to fresh. Sea smooth or slight. Mostly clear, but in the South and in a part of the Central Adriatic variably cloudy with rain or isolated thundery rain showers.
