IN PLACES ALONG THE COAST DURING THE FORENOON GUSTS OF NE WINDS 35-45, IN THE VELEBIT CHANNEL UP TO 70 KNOTS. TOWARD THE OPEN SEA GUSTS OF N and NW WINDS UP TO 35 KNOTS. STILL A RISK OF LIGHT ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS.

SYNOPSIS

A low over the South Adriatic is slowly filling up and shifting further eastwards, while a ridge of high pressure is intensifying from the west. Moist and unstable air is still circulating in high levels.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE ADRIATIC FOR THE FIRST 12 HOURS

Along the coast NE winds 10-20, in places up to 24, and in the Velebit Channel up to 36, easing around midday to 6-16 knots. Toward the open sea N and NW winds 12-24 knots. Only in the extreme south of the Adriatic at first still SE winds 8-18 knots. Sea 2-3, in the open 3-4. Visibility 10-20 km. Variably cloudy and a little warmer with rain only in places, and still with a risk of isolated rain showers with thunder, mainly in the South and in a part of the Central, late in the day again in the North Adriatic as well.

Along the coast light to moderate NE, in the open sea moderate, in the South and Central Adriatic up to strong N and NW winds. Sea smooth or slight, in the open up to moderate. Variably cloudy, still with rain in places and with a risk of isolated rain showers with thunder.
