ALONG THE COAST IN THE MORNING AND ONLY IN THE VELEBIT CHANNEL DURING THE NIGHT, LOCAL GUSTS OF NE WINDS 35-40 KNOTS. IN THE SOUTH ADRIATIC, THEN IN A PART OF THE CENTRAL, GUSTS OF SE WINDS STRENGTHENING UP TO 35 KNOTS. ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS, MAINLY THROUGH THE NIGHT.

SYNOPSIS

A low over southern Italy and a part of the Adriatic will be filling up slowly, while a new trough is already generating over the central Mediterranean.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE ADRIATIC FOR THE FIRST 12 HOURS

NE winds 6-16, in places up to 22, easing along the coast, except in the Velebit Channel, and turning firstly in the South Adriatic, then gradually in the Central Adriatic as well, to SE winds 12-22, in the extreme south up to 26 knots. Sea 2-3, increasing in the South and in a part of the Central Adriatic to 3-4. Visibility 10-20 km. Fair or mainly cloudy with scattered rain and with a risk of isolated rain showers and thunder. Air temperatures a little lower.

Moderate SE, in the northern part of the Adriatic light to moderate, only in the Velebit Channel up to fresh, NE winds, turning in the open sea to NW. Sea smooth or slight, in the southern part up to moderate. Overcast with rain, showers and thunder.
