GUSTS OF NE WINDS 35-55, IN THE VELEBIT CHANNEL AT FIRST STILL UP TO 70 KNOTS, EASING IN THE NORTH ADRIATIC DURING THE NIGHT. SEA TOWARD THE OPEN AT FIRST POSSIBLY 4-5. STILL A RISK OF LIGHT ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS IN THE SOUTH ADRIATIC IN THE MORNING.

SYNOPSIS

A trough is withdrawing from the Adriatic eastwards, while a ridge of high pressure is intensifying from the west.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE ADRIATIC FOR THE FIRST 12 HOURS

NE winds 12-22, in places up to 28, and in the Velebit Channel at first still up to 35 knots. Along the west Istrian coast toward the end of the day NE winds will ease to 6-16 knots. Sea 3-4, locally in the open at first still 4-5, calming in the northern part of the Adriatic toward the end of the day to 2-3. Visibility 10-20 km. Partial clearing, firstly in the northern part of the Adriatic. In the South Adriatic during the forenoon still variably cloudy with scattered rain and with a risk of isolated rain showers with thunder.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE NEXT 12 HOURS

Mostly clear. Moderate to strong NE, gradually easing in the North Adriatic to light to moderate, and west of Istria from the middle of the night turning to SE winds. Sea slight and moderate, in the North Adriatic smooth or slight.
