ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS. TOWARD THE OPEN OF THE CENTRAL AND SOUTH ADRIATIC GUSTS OF NW WINDS 35-50 KNOTS. IN PLACES ALONG THE COAST AT FIRST STILL GUSTS OF NE WINDS UP TO 35, IN THE VELEBIT CHANNEL UP TO 45 KNOTS. SEA LOCALLY IN THE OPEN OF THE SOUTH ADRIATIC UP TO 5.

SYNOPSIS

A shallow low is shifting rapidly across the Adriatic further eastwards, while a ridge of high pressure will intensify a little from the west.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE ADRIATIC FOR THE FIRST 12 HOURS

NW winds 12-24, toward the open of the South and Central Adriatic during the day up to 34, easing in the North and in a part of the Central Adriatic during the night to 6-16 knots and turning to W and SW. In places along the coast at first still NE winds 8-18, in the Velebit Channel up to 24 knots. Sea 3-4, in the open of the South Adriatic possibly 4-5, gradually calming through the night. Visibility 10-20 km. Variably cloudy with scattered rain or isolated rain showers with thunder, mainly in the South and Central Adriatic, then gradual clearing, firstly in the North Adriatic.

Light to moderate W and SW, in the South and in a part of the Central Adriatic moderate to strong NW winds, gradually easing. Sea smooth or slight, in the open of the South Adriatic up to moderate. Mostly clear, but in places of the South and of a part of the Central Adriatic at first still with a risk of brief isolated rain showers and thunder.
