ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS, MAINLY DURING THE FORENOON. IN THE OPEN OF THE CENTRAL AND SOUTH ADRIATIC GUSTS OF NW WINDS STRENGTHENING TO 35-50 KNOTS. IN PLACES ALONG THE COAST DURING THE FORENOON GUSTS OF NE WINDS UP TO 35, IN THE VELEBIT CHANNEL UP TO 45 KNOTS. SEA BRIEFLY UP TO 5 IN THE OPEN OF THE SOUTH ADRIATIC LATE IN THE DAY.

SYNOPSIS

A shallow low is shifting rapidly across the Adriatic further eastwards, while a ridge of high pressure will intensify a little from the west.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE ADRIATIC FOR THE FIRST 12 HOURS

In the North and in a part of the Central Adriatic during the forenoon NE, toward the open sea N and NW, and in the South, at first in a part of the Central Adriatic, SW winds 10-20, in the Velebit Channel NE up to 24 knots. NW winds strengthening all along the Adriatic around midday to 12-26, in the open of the South and Central Adriatic up to 34 knots, easing in the evening, firstly in the northern part. Sea 3-4, in the open of the South Adriatic late in the day 4-5, calming in the North Adriatic in the evening to 2-3. Visibility 10-20, in places during the forenoon reduced to 4-10 km due to mist. Overcast with scattered rain, isolated rain showers and thunder. Clearing is expected in the North and in a part of the Central Adriatic during the forenoon, then gradually in the rest of the Adriatic as well, in the extreme south in the evening. Air temperatures a little lower.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE NEXT 12 HOURS

Moderate, in the open of the South and of a part of the Central Adriatic strong and near gale force NW winds, gradually easing and turning in the North and in a part of the Central Adriatic to light to moderate W and SW winds. Sea calming gradually, in the second part of the night to smooth and slight, only in the open of the South Adriatic at first possibly up to rough. Mostly clear.
