IN THE SOUTH AND CENTRAL ADRIATIC LOCAL GUSTS OF SE and S WINDS 35-50 KNOTS, BRIEFLY EASING, EXCEPT IN THE EXTREME SOUTH. IN THE NORTH ADRIATIC LATE IN THE DAY GUSTS OF NE WINDS 35-45, IN THE VELEBIT CHANNEL DURING THE NIGHT UP TO 60 KNOTS. SEA IN THE SOUTH ADRIATIC UP TO 5. ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS.

SYNOPSIS

A low with frontal system is shifting across the Adriatic eastwards, while a new one is expected to deepen over the Central Mediterranean and a ridge of high pressure to intensify from the west.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE ADRIATIC FOR THE FIRST 12 HOURS

In the Central and in the greater part of the South Adriatic SE winds 12-28, gradually easing to 8-18 knots and turning briefly in places to SW, but strengthening again toward the end of the day. In the extreme south of the Adriatic S and SE winds 16-34 knots. In the North, in the morning in a part of the Central Adriatic as well, NW and NE winds 6-16, in the afternoon NE strengthening to 12-22, in places in the evening up to 26 knots. Sea 3-4, around midday 2-3, and in the South Adriatic 4-5. Visibility 10-20 km. Overcast with rain, showers and thunder. No change in air temperatures.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE NEXT 12 HOURS

In the South and Central Adriatic moderate to strong SE, in places along the coast E, only in the extreme south up to near gale force S winds. In the North Adriatic NE winds strengthening to moderate and strong, in the Velebit Channel in the second part of the night up to near gale force. Sea slight and moderate, in the South Adriatic up to rough. Overcast with rain, showers and thunder.
